DuraFlex Chimney Inspection in Fort Worth: What to Know First
DuraFlex chimney inspection in Fort Worth typically runs $189 to $349 depending on the level of inspection, and we book most appointments within 3 to 5 business days. We inspect DuraFlex liners as an independent service provider, not a manufacturer authorized dealer, which means we report only what the camera shows: no inflated repair quotes, no invented hazards, and no pressure to replace something that has years of safe use left. If you own a DuraFlex liner and want a straight answer on its condition, call (682) 255-2144 and we’ll get you scheduled. Every inspection includes a written report with photos you can actually see and understand.
How DuraFlex Products Fail, and What We Find During Inspection
DuraFlex makes a solid product, but no liner lasts forever. Here are the failure patterns we see most often on Fort Worth chimneys, along with what we do about them.
- DuraFlex Pro stainless liner seam separation at the tee connection. The Pro series uses a corrugated single-wall design that handles heat well, but the tee where the liner turns to meet the appliance is the first place we see gaps open up. Fort Worth’s clay-heavy soil shifts with wet-dry cycles, and that settling pulls on the tee connection over time. When the seam opens, flue gases can leak into the chimney cavity. Our fix is a documented inspection finding with photos, then either re-securing the connection or replacing the tee section. We tell you which one the camera supports and show you the footage before a single part gets ordered.
- DuraFlex 316L alloy liner pitting from condensate on gas appliances. The 316L liner is often specified for gas inserts and direct-vent units, but Fort Worth’s humidity plus the acidic condensate a gas appliance produces causes pitting on the inner wall. The pitting is usually visible in the first 5 feet above the appliance. We don’t tell you the liner is shot because we see one pit. We measure the depth of the pitting against the wall thickness and make a call based on whether the liner can still hold flue gases safely. If it can, we say so and schedule a recheck in 12 months. If it cannot, we give you a written quote for replacement before we leave.
- DuraFlex Smooth Wall liner ovaling at the top plate. The Smooth Wall line bends under heat cycling. When the top plate was cut slightly undersized, the liner gets compressed into an oval shape where it passes through the plate. An ovaled liner creates turbulence that slows draft and can cause smoke rollout on cold starts. We see this most often on 1950s and 1960s Fort Worth homes where original clay tile liners were retrofitted. The fix is resizing the top plate opening, not replacing the whole liner, which saves owners a thousand dollars or more in unnecessary work.
- Improper aftermarket connectors used on DuraFlex installs. DuraFlex specifies its own coupling bands and appliance connectors for a reason: the tolerances are tight. When a previous contractor used generic sheet-metal screws or the wrong gauge band, the connection loosens and leaks. During inspection we check every connector against the DuraFlex specification and note any mismatch in the report. If the liner itself is sound, replacing three or four connector bands is a $200 to $400 repair, not a full reline.
- Flex liner kinking from a bad pull through an offset flue. DuraFlex liners are flexible by design, but a hard bend creates a stress point that eventually cracks. Fort Worth chimneys built before 1960 often have slight offsets in the flue that a careless installer tried to muscle through. The kink shows up on camera as a sharp bend with visible creasing at the corrugation peaks. We mark the location, measure the draft loss, and tell you plainly if the liner needs sectioned replacement or if the draft loss is acceptable for your appliance.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Process
When Hank Delano or one of our techs handles a DuraFlex inspection in Fort Worth, here is exactly what happens, start to finish.
- 1
You call, a live person answers. No phone tree, no callback form. We collect the basic details: type of appliance, age of the liner if you know it, and any symptoms you’ve noticed, like smoke smell or animals in the chimney.
- 2
We arrive inside the window we gave you. Uniformed, background-checked, and driving a marked truck. We put on shoe covers and lay drop cloths before anything else.
- 3
Camera inspection of the full liner run. We run a high-resolution camera from the top of the chimney down through the DuraFlex liner to the appliance connector, recording the whole run. We’re looking specifically for the failure modes listed above, plus creosote buildup, animal nests, and water entry points.
- 4
Diagnostic photos and measurements. We document every finding with still images pulled from the footage, plus measurements: wall thickness at pitting sites, draft reading at the appliance, and gap width at any failed connection.
- 5
Written findings and a plain-language recommendation. We sit down with you and walk through what the camera shows. If the liner is sound, you get a clean bill and a recommendation for when to re-inspect. If work is needed, you get a written quote with the exact scope before any repair begins. No verbal estimates, no moving targets.
- 6
Repair or re-inspection scheduled, guaranteed. If we do the repair, it carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: a written guarantee good for a full year, with a free return visit if something we fixed fails during that period. If no repair is needed, we note the re-inspection interval and call you when it’s due.

AfterWhat DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Costs in Fort Worth
Here are the real numbers for the DuraFlex inspection scenarios we handle most often in Fort Worth.
- Level 1 inspection (visual check, no camera): $189 to $249. Appropriate when the liner was installed recently and you just want a trained eye on it before burning season.
- Level 2 inspection with camera: $289 to $349. This is what we recommend for most DuraFlex owners, especially if the liner is more than 5 years old or you bought the house with the liner already installed.
- Real estate inspection (Level 2 with written report for closing): $329 to $389. We deliver the report within 24 hours so your closing isn’t held up.
- Level 3 inspection (partial teardown of chimney structure): $800 to $2,500 depending on access. We only recommend this when the camera shows damage behind masonry that a Level 2 can’t fully diagnose.
What moves the price: roof pitch, chimney height, whether we need a lift or can work from a ladder, and the age of the liner affecting how long the camera run takes. Every inspection gets a written price before we start. Call (682) 255-2144 for an exact quote, and if you mention this page, the estimate is free.
Why Fort Worth Homeowners Call Flint Chimney Co Fort Worth for DuraFlex Work
We’ve been doing chimney work since 2002 as part of the Garrison Partners family, and we run every job under The Garrison Standard: written price first, documented findings second, and a written guarantee on every repair. That means when we inspect your DuraFlex liner, you get a report you can file away and hold us to. If we repair something and it fails within a year, we’re back at no charge. No fine print, no prorated nonsense.
Our techs work with DuraFlex every week, but they also know HeatShield and Gelco systems, which matters when a DuraFlex liner can’t be repaired and a different material is the smarter fix for your chimney. We specify parts by what the job demands, not by what carries the best margin. That’s how Hank tells it on every inspection: if it’s not clean and it’s not safe, we’re not done.
Frequently Asked Questions About DuraFlex Chimney Inspection in Fort Worth
No. A camera inspection by an independent chimney company does not void a DuraFlex warranty. What voids a DuraFlex warranty is failing to follow the manufacturer’s maintenance requirements, which include regular inspection and cleaning by a qualified chimney professional. Keep your inspection report as proof of maintenance, and you’re actually strengthening your warranty position, not weakening it.
Once a year, at minimum, before burning season starts in Fort Worth. If you burn wood more than three times a week through the winter, inspect every six months. If your liner is 10 years old or older, inspect annually regardless of usage. The cost of a Level 2 camera inspection is less than most chimney fire deductibles.
We repair DuraFlex liners when the damage is localized, which is most of the time. Seam separations, connector band failures, tee issues, and minor kinking are all repairable with the correct parts. We recommend full replacement only when the liner wall is too thin in multiple locations or the damage runs more than a few feet. The camera tells us which one, and we show you the footage before you spend a dollar.
Both, depending on what the job needs. DuraFlex OEM components are the default when warranty coverage is a concern. For older liners already out of warranty, quality aftermarket connectors and bands from trusted sources can be entirely appropriate and cost 20 to 30% less. We show you the difference and let you decide before we order.
Most inspections are scheduled within 3 to 5 business days, faster in October and November when demand peaks and crews run extended schedules. If you’re under a real estate contract with a tight closing date, tell us when you call and we’ll do our best to fit you in sooner.
If you own a DuraFlex liner in Fort Worth and want a documented inspection report without the runaround, call (682) 255-2144. A live person answers, every time.
