Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Copperfield Chimney Sweep in Fort Worth: What to Know First
A standard Copperfield chimney sweep in Fort Worth typically runs $189 to $329, and we do the work as an independent Copperfield service provider, not as a manufacturer-authorized shop. Most Copperfield sweeps take 60 to 90 minutes from setup to final vacuum pass, and we book within the week for most Fort Worth neighborhoods. You get a written price before any tools come off the truck, so the number you approve is the number you pay.
If you own a Copperfield fireplace or stove in Fort Worth and you’re overdue for a sweep, call (682) 255-2144. Hank Delano runs this crew, and we’ve worked on enough Copperfield units across Fort Worth to know what the factory build quality looks like after a few North Texas burn seasons.
How Copperfield Products Fail, and How We Fix Them
Copperfield builds solid entry-level and mid-range chimney components. But every brand has weak points, and around Fort Worth we see the same handful of issues show up in Copperfield chimneys after a few years of regular use.
- Copperfield triple-wall air-cooled pipe, creosote bridging at the elbow joints. Air-cooled pipe runs cooler than insulated, which lets creosote condense faster inside the flue, especially at the offsets where smoke slows to make a turn. We’ll find heavy buildup in the elbows first, and if it goes too long that creosote hardens into a glaze that a standard brush will not remove. We use mechanical rotary cleaning on those sections and document the before-and-after with camera footage so you can see exactly what came out.
- Copperfield chimney caps with undersized mesh, debris and spark arrestor clogging. The factory mesh on several Copperfield cap models is fine enough to catch flying embers but also fine enough to plug with creosote flake and wind-blown cottonwood seed, which Fort Worth gets in waves every spring. A clogged cap changes the draft on the whole system. We pull the cap, clean the mesh with a stiff brush, and if the mesh is rusting through we’ll show you the photo and give you a written replacement price.
- Copperfield fireplace refractory panels, hairline cracks from fast hot-cold cycling. Fort Worth winters are mild, which means owners light occasional fires and the firebox goes from cold to hot to cold fast. Copperfield refractory panels are durable for the price point but they do hairline-crack under repeated thermal shock. A sweep with a Level 1 inspection will catch those cracks before they widen into panel failure. We replace panels with factory-spec refractory, not generic firebrick cut to fit.
- Copperfield stove baffle boards, warped from overfiring or wet wood. On Copperfield wood stoves we regularly see baffle boards sagging or cracked because the stove ran too hot, or too much unseasoned oak got burned. A warped baffle hurts burn efficiency and pushes more particulate up the flue, which means more creosote. We check baffle condition during every stove sweep and tell you honestly if it needs replacement or if there’s another season left in it.
- Copperfield chase-top flashing, sealant breakdown from Texas sun exposure. The chase top on a Copperfield prefab system takes direct Fort Worth sun, and the factory sealant around the chase pan corners degrades faster here than in cooler climates. Water gets in, rust starts, and eventually the chase pan fails. We reseal chase tops during sweep visits when we see early breakdown, and we use a commercial-grade sealant rated for the heat and UV load here, which gives you a better run than the factory bead.

Our Copperfield Chimney Sweep Process
We run a Copperfield sweep job the same way every time. No shortcuts, no skipped steps. Here’s what happens after you call.
- 1
Call and get a live person. You call (682) 255-2144 and a real person answers, day or night. We ask about your Copperfield unit, how often you burn, and whether you’ve had any smoke issues or odd smells. We book a two-hour arrival window and show up inside it.
- 2
Arrival and setup. Background-checked, uniformed technician arrives with drop cloths, a HEPA-filtered vacuum, and full-size chimney gear. We lay protection down around the hearth before anything else happens.
- 3
Pre-sweep visual check. We look at the Copperfield firebox, damper, cap, and accessible flue sections. If something looks off, we tell you before we start cleaning, not after.
- 4
Mechanical sweep, top to bottom. We run the proper-size brush or rotary whip through the full flue length. On Copperfield prefab systems we use poly brushes, never metal, so the flue liner doesn’t get scored. Every pass gets vacuumed at the throat with the HEPA unit running.
- 5
Creosote and soot removal, then Level 1 or Level 2 inspection. After the flue is clean we run a camera if you booked a Level 2, or do a standard Level 1 visual if that’s what the unit calls for. You get a written summary of what we found, with photos if we took them.
- 6
Final walkthrough and written guarantee. We show you what came out of the flue, we write up the service summary, and if any repair was done, it carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. Then we pack out and leave the hearth cleaner than we found it.
Hank’s rule applies to every Copperfield job: “If it is not clean and it is not safe, we are not done.”

AfterWhat Copperfield Chimney Sweep Costs in Fort Worth
Here’s the pricing range for common Copperfield service scenarios in Fort Worth.
- Standard Copperfield chimney sweep + Level 1 inspection: $189 to $259, depending on flue height and creosote load.
- Copperfield sweep + Level 2 camera inspection: $289 to $369. The camera inspection is the only way to see inside the flue after cleaning and document liner or joint condition.
- Heavy creosote or glaze removal on Copperfield flues: $329 to $449, using rotary mechanical cleaning. Glaze requires more time and specialized heads.
- Copperfield cap cleaning or mesh replacement: $89 to $169, done on the same visit when we find the issue during the sweep.
- Copperfield refractory panel replacement: $220 to $480, including panel and labor, priced before work begins.
What moves the price: flue height, creosote stage, access difficulty, and any repair parts needed. Nothing gets added after the fact. Call (682) 255-2144 and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts, based on what your Copperfield system actually needs.
Why Fort Worth Homeowners Call Flint Chimney Co Fort Worth for Copperfield Work
We’ve been doing this since 2002 as part of the Garrison Partners family of independently owned chimney service companies. That means we operate under The Garrison Standard: a written price before any work starts on every single job, and a written guarantee on every repair. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers repairs for a full year from the service date. If a covered repair fails in that window, we come back and fix it at no charge, no argument.
Our techs work with Copperfield components regularly, and we stock the aftermarket and OEM-spec parts that Copperfield units actually need. When a Copperfield flue needs a liner replacement, we specify DuraFlex, HeatShield, or Gelco by application, not by margin. The same goes for caps and flashing from Olympia Chimney and Famco. You can look up every brand we name and verify the quality yourself. That’s how we prefer to work.
FAQs
No. Routine chimney sweeping and inspection by an independent service provider does not void a Copperfield product warranty. What voids warranties is damage caused by improper use, neglected maintenance, or unauthorized modifications. We never modify Copperfield components beyond factory spec, and we document every service so you have a record if a warranty claim ever comes up.
Once per burn season, assuming typical use of a wood-burning Copperfield fireplace or stove. If you burn more than two cords a year, or you burn unseasoned wood, twice a season is safer. Fort Worth’s mild winters mean a lot of intermittent burning, which creates more cold-start creosote than you might get in a colder climate where fires run longer and hotter.
We’ll show you the camera footage on the spot and give you a written repair or replacement option. For Copperfield prefab systems, a damaged flue usually means a liner solution using DuraFlex or HeatShield, priced before any work begins. If the damage is minor, we’ll tell you that too and note it for the next inspection. Nothing gets recommended that you can’t see for yourself.
Usually within the same week. We serve all of Fort Worth and the surrounding area, including the Fairmount Historic District where we’ve done a long run of century-old fireplace work alongside newer Copperfield prefab systems. Call (682) 255-2144, get a live person, and we’ll lock in a two-hour arrival window that we hit.
Creosote accumulates. In a Copperfield flue with even a moderately active burn history, one skipped year can leave enough buildup to ignite a chimney fire. At minimum, you’ll be burning with weaker draft and more smoke spillage into the room. We’re not in the business of scaring anyone into a sweep, but the physics are the physics. Call (682) 255-2144 and we’ll give you an honest assessment of what’s in your flue, with a camera photo as proof.
